About Onpery®

Onpery® is a green menstrual health brand that has (1) a portfolio of IP-driven redesigned green (sustainable) menstrual products to improve the user experience of usability and comfort, with user-friendly policies such as maximum menstruators can easily adopt green menstrual products, and (2) designed initiatives such as to reduce the period poverty by having the products inclusive.

Onpery® is the first brand globally to have IP-protected technologies on the entire range of reusable menstrual products.

Onpery® is a brand by a social-centric design lab named Care Form Labs Pvt. Ltd., Ranchi, Jharkhand, India (incorporated in January 2020); further supported by an NGO named OneForm Foundation, Ranchi, Jharkhand (incorporated in July 2022). Both entities are founded by Pramod Priya Ranjan (LinkedIn), a System and Industrial Designer who did his bachelor’s in Industrial Design from MIT Institute of Design, Pune (MIT ID) (2015-19) and his master's in System Design from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD) (2020-22). Along with Pramod, Dr. Prof. Nachiket Thakur, an Academician and Industrial Designer co-founded Care Form Labs Pvt. Ltd., who did his master’s in Industrial Design from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai (IDC, IITB) and has a rich experience in innovation, strategy and social ventures.

Onpery® has designed India’s first indigenous patent-applied Menstrual Cup, which was soft-launched in one size for initial public feedback on 8th March 2021 and finally launched in all sizes just a year after on 8th March 2022. The Cup is easier to insert in and remove from the vagina and is cervix-friendly. Along with Pramod and Dr. Prof. Nachiket Thakur, the Cup has been co-designed by Prof. Dhimant Panchal, Shreya Yengul and Alomi Parikh.

While in the pilot phase of the Cup, Onpery® further decided to redesign and offer the entire range of green menstrual product portfolio as the team realized that they are not primarily offering a product but a lifestyle of green menstruation and different people have different preferences at any given point of time.

Accordingly, the team at Onpery® successfully redesigned and filed patents on reusable Sanitary Pads, reusable Liner, reusable Period Underwear and Menstrual Disc. In March 2022, Onpery® launched a regular variant of Period Underwear and in May 2022, Onpery® further launched India’s first detachable and size adjustable Period Underwear. The detachable variant will help users easily replace the product, especially in public washrooms. The size adjustability feature is designed particularly keeping the rural women in mind who may not be sure about the size of the product suitable for them. Onpery® further launched Biodegradable Pads and will launch its entire remaining products in the portfolio by end of 2022. The range of external reusable menstrual products has been redesigned by Pramod, Prof. Sabyasachi Paldas (Professor of Practise, IITD) and Shreya Yengul. The redesigned products are better in terms of usability and comfort.

As a project, Onpery® with the support of Sundara Fund, USA enabled Oriya Village in Hazaribagh city of Jharkhand state in India to become the first village in India to adopt green menstruation from reusable Period Underwear in May 2022.

Care Form Labs Pvt. Ltd. has been incubated (July 2019 to July 2021) at ‘AIC-MIT ADT Incubator Forum, Pune (hosted by MIT ADT University and supported by AIM (Atal Innovation Mission), NITI Aayog, Govt. of India, Delhi)’ for redesigning Onpery® Menstrual Cup. The company is currently been incubated (January 2022 till January 2024) at the ‘Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD)’ to redesign external reusable menstrual products.

Onpery® has consumer-friendly policies such as 100% refund and 100% free size-change in case a person is not able to use any of its products, which helps the person to freely explore green menstrual products. Onpery® also has the policy to donate 5% of its revenue to providing its products to low-income menstruators to reduce period poverty under their initiative ‘Onpery® Care’ which further acts as a feel-good factor for customers.

Onpery® has designed a few initiatives as mentioned below:

(a) ‘Onpery® Care’ for financially underprivileged menstruators: A local institute directly linked with the target audience can buy products or register if they lack funds. If they register, then Onpery looks for a sponsor or self-sponsor (through a revenue donation policy) to fund their menstrual products. A sponsor can also reach out to fund the cause.

‘Onpery® Care’ initiative is India’s most impact-genuine initiative to reduce period poverty.

(b) ‘Onpery® GreenCampus’ for the workplace and academic campus: The initiative is about enabling campuses/institutions/workplaces to provide access to innovative sustainable (green) menstrual products, to the menstruators directly associated with them with very user-friendly policies, for them to explore and adopt the green menstrual products easily.

(c) ‘Onpery® Start’ for school: The initiative is to make young girls who will be going through menarche feel carefree about the timing of arrival of menarche (accidental leakage) by wearing Onpery® Period Underwear.

Due to the innovative products and strategies, Onpery® has been recognized by BIRAC Govt. of India, UNDP Accelerator Lab India, Youth Co:Lab India, Startup Bangladesh Ltd., Confederation of Indian Industry, Lexus India, Startup India Seed Fund Scheme, to name a few.

Onpery® looks forward to bringing a green menstrual revolution, starting in India and then at a global level.
